Are the Right People on Your Bus?

When we talk about growth in our dental practice or in life it’s easy to get caught chasing goals that sound right. Maybe it’s a revenue target that impresses your peers, or a vision board full of stuff that doesn’t really align with who you are. In my new book The Shift, one of the big ideas I explore is this: success gets a lot easier when your goals actually match your vision—not someone else’s.

Early in my career, I thought I knew what success looked like: multiple offices, lots of operatories, and more new patients every month. But eventually, I realized I was building someone else’s dream—not mine. That’s when everything started to shift. I got clear on what I really wanted: more time with my family, a team I enjoyed working with, and a practice that supported my life (not the other way around).

Take 10 minutes to sit down and ask yourself, “What do I really want? What does success look like for me, not just this year, but in 5 years?”

Write it down. Then, go a step deeper: why do you want it? That clarity can become the filter for every decision you make.

The Shift is packed with these kind of mindset exercises and practical strategies. If you’re ready to shift your vision to build a life and practice that actually fits you, I think you’ll really enjoy my new book. It comes out August 5th, but you can preorder it now!

Your vision is too important to borrow from someone else. Make sure it’s truly yours.

Be well and do well,
