I wanted to be a dentist from the time that I was 15 years old. It was always the plan.
Fast forward a few years, to nearly 20 years ago, after my undergrad graduation. I was receiving rejection letter after rejection letter from dental schools when I experienced two defining moments. These were the moments that would force me to realize that this plan relied on a stroke of fate from a dental admissions committee to give me the shot that I wanted.
Still hoping to get into dental school, but watching that dream drift farther away, I finally realized that I had to take control of my circumstances.
